Ñ Craft treatises and handbooks : the dissemination of technical knowledge in the Middle Ages

 

The proceedings of the international symposium Craft treatises and handbooks: the dissemination of technical knowledge in the Middle Ages (Universidad de C—rdoba, Facultad de Filosofia y Letras, 6-8 October 2005) are due to be published this year under the editor Dr. Ricardo C—rdoba de la Llave. This excellent conference covered source research across a wide range of subjects including manuscript illumination (e.g. paints and pigments), metallurgy (e.g bronze casting), instrument making (musical and astronomical) and others.

Ñ The Cambridge Illuminations Conference, 8-10 December 2005, Cambridge

 

In connection with the exhibition of the same name will be held an international conference which will bring together many of the world's leading medievalists. It will focus on manuscripts in Cambridge as a starting point for larger discussions and will encourage a dialogue between a wide range of disciplines, from codicology, palaeography, art history, and conservation to collecting, history, and literary studies. Harvey Miller/Brepols have expressed strong interest in publishing the Conference papers.
